Day-Ohn-Day 5k Run and 1 Mile Run/Walk
The Day-Ohn-Day 5k Run and 1 Mile Run/Walk is an annual spring road race benefitting the Tulsa Powwow. It takes place each year in Tulsa, Oklahoma on a USATF certified and sanctioned course. Prizes are awarded to three places in the standard age brackets.
The Day-Ohn-Day 5k began in 2005 with only 40 runners, growing to more than 325 in 2010. This year's overall winner in the men's category was Caleb Clark of Bartlesville with a finishing time of 16:28. Overall winner in the women's category was Donna Munkelwitz of Tulsa with a time of 20:41. For a full list of winners from this year's race, visit the 2010 Day-Ohn-Day 5k Run page.
Day-Ohn-Day is a word in the Kiowa language meaning "good" or "wonderful", but can also refer to "beginning". The creation of the Day-Ohn-Day 5k Run in 2005 marked a new (and wonderful) beginning in community involvement for the Tulsa Indian Club.
