Brittany Morgan Hill

Ihanktonwan Dakota (Yankton Sioux) - Mvskoke (Creek)

Hello...Toked ya un he? My name is Brittany Morgan Hill. I belong to the Ihanktonwan Dakota (Yankton Sioux) tribe, of Marty SD, and the Mvskoke (Creek) tribe of Oklahoma. My Dakota name is "Ma-ka Du-ta Win-Yan", which translates to "Red Earth Woman". I am the 17 yr. old daughter of Levi Hill, originally of Eufaula, OK, and Deborah Hill, originally of Marty, SD. I have two sisters, Jennifer Niyah, and Breana Hill, along with two nephews, Joseph and Brandon Niyah. I currently reside in Broken Arrow, OK where I will be a senior at Tulsa Union High School. I actively participate in numerous clubs and organizations at school and within our Native American community. At school, I am the current president of the Native American Student Association (N.A.S.A), a member of the Key Club, DFY (Drug-Free Youth), Yearbook staff, and a student representative for the JOM/Title VII Parent committee. Within our native community, I am involved with cultural organizations such as; the Circles of Care program, the Legacy Cultural Learning Center, and the Tulsa Creek Indian Community Center. I have also been inducted into the "Who's Who among American High School Students". My goal is to attend the University of Oklahoma and major in clinical psychology. In my free time I enjoy drawing. I LOVE to travel and regularly attend powwows and cultural events both locally and across Indian Country. I wish to thank the Tulsa Indian Club and the princess committee for selecting me as this year's Pow-wow Princess. I am truly honored to represent the organization and look forward to an exciting and memorable reign. I would also like to take the opportunity to welcome all of you to this year's 56th Annual Tulsa Powwow and I hope everyone has a great time! I look forward to meeting a lot of you and making new friendships this weekend. Last, but not least, "safe travels" and "good luck" to all the dancers and singers!
