James Asa Anquoe and given to
the Tulsa Indian Club in 1953.

The historic Tulsa Powwow began in 1952, evolving from small backyard gatherings into a nationally known summer event at Tulsa's Mohawk Park. From 2005 - 2008, the Tulsa Powwow was held at the Tulsa Convention Center before moving to its new home at the 4,500 seat Spirit Bank Event Center. The 2008 marked the 56th anniversary of the Tulsa Powwow as well as one of our biggest in recent years. With over 6000 attendees and 250 registered dancers the 2008 Tulsa Powwow upheld its reputation as one of Oklahoma's premiere competition powwows.
